Welcome to My Spoon Carving World
Hello! I'm Matt Eliason, though you might know me better as Spoonguy. The name captures the quirky, personal, and heartfelt nature of my craft: carving unique, functional art for your kitchen from rescued wood, using traditional hand tools and techniques.

Unique and Practical
I believe a wooden spoon is more than just a tool; it's an extension of the cook's hand. That's why every spoon I carve is shaped not just for the eye, but for the hand and the heart.
- Unique & Sustainable: Each spoon tells a story of renewal. I exclusively use greenwood rescued from the chippers of local tree surgeons or from donated garden trimmings. This means every piece of wood has a story and each has a unique grain and character, ensuring no two spoons are ever alike.
- Hand-Carved with Tradition: Using an axe, knives, a drawknife, and a spokeshave, I shape each spoon by hand. This traditional process allows me to respond to the wood's natural form, creating a kitchen tool that is visually appealing, perfectly balanced, and a genuine joy to use.
- Made to Be Used: Finished with food-safe oils, these spoons are durable companions for your culinary adventures. Many of my customers tell me that cooking feels more connected and enjoyable with a spoon that feels right in your hand.

My goal is to share the craft with users of my spoons and connect with people with an interest in the mindful craft of spoon carving. The best way to stay in the loop is to be like many who follow my journey of spoon creation and loved of wood, online.

Buying a Spoon
The very best place to buy a spoon is at the Toowoomba Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning. I do occasionally list finished spoons for online sale buy to ne honest stock moves so well at the market, the time and effort to put into the shop isn't worth it. Therefor inventory is very limited, so if you cannot make it to the farmer's market following on social media is the best way to get notified of new spoons and you can drop a message if you see one you want before it goes onto thew market display.
